Note: This issue only applies to Office 2013 versions.

In the Word (or other Office programs) settings, check if the Allow Office to connect to the Internet option is active.

To activate it, click File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options > Allow Office to connect to the Internet.
